The event was deeply linked to its context. The political solidiarities that had emerged at that time, especially within East and Southeast Asian communities in response to Covid-related racism, gave rise to ESEA Sisters. Post-lockdown, it felt urgent to gather and celebrate ESEA communities amidst these pressures, and to use the event to raise funds for HCCS.
The event, led by Ying Suen and Sue Man, featured hot pot, mahjong, karaoke and a grand raffle with prizes from an array of donors. It raised £1300 for HCCS, and ushered in a new era for ESEA collaboration and solidarity. Thank you to our brilliant ESEA Sisters team, our volunteers, the HCCS staff and volunteers, our generous raffle prize donors, and everyone who attended.
